Rejection Letter

Dear submitter,

It is with heavy heart that we inform you that we must again reject your suggested comic book idea. We have given the idea all due thought and have concluded that there is just no noticeable market for your proposed "Sparta: the fightin' Dung Beetle."

We here at Popular Comix Inc. feel that the Dung Beetle is not an animal that the typical American can bond with or even relate to.

Rest assured, we have given this much thought and this does not constitute a "rash, offhand, and shortsighted rejection" as you alleged when we last rejected one of your works. We have all submissions read by at least three (3) readers before acceptance, or, in your case, rejection. It is just that the work lacks commercial viability. There was one reader who did give some positive comments; however, later in the day he began showing signs of severe hydrophobia, and upon seeking medical care, was diagnosed with rabies. Seems he caught it while laying naked in the woods under a pile of wet leaves. Needless to say, after he recovered, he was less than enthusiastic about the work.

However, keep up the fight. We look forward to your next submission. May we suggest one thing? Try to stay away from the Dung Beetle motif. We know that they are easy to draw, but please look at it from our viewpoint- a Dung Beetle is just a Dung Beetle, no matter what clever tricks you have him utilize in his fight against crime. In this regard, "Sparta: the fightin' Dung Beetle" is really no different than "Randy: the lovin' Dung Beetle," or any of the other seventeen (17) Dung Beetle related stories you have previously submitted to us.

Respectfully, Pop Comix Inc.
