Great Disasters throughout time effecting commerce

1656- Black Plague sweeps Europe. Commerce suffers. Millions of dollars lost.
A door-to-door salesman walks down a deserted street with his cart filled with brooms. He waves one in the air and calls "Brooms for sale" "Cleanliness has never been cheaper!" From doors and windows comes- "GO AWAY!"

1912- Sinking of the Titanic. Blow to White Star shipping line and tourism. Millions of dollars lost.
Small boats move away from the Ship as it dips down into the sea. A woman says "I, for one, have had a crisis of confidence in the Shipping and Travel industry." A man dressed as a woman adds, "I'll say!"

1937- Hindenburg Disaster. Long remembered as a stunning setback in Zeppelin Technology. Destroyed an industry. Millions of dollars lost.
The Hindenburg explodes as the newsman stands with microphone in one hand and the other slapping his forehead in grief- "Oh, the Humanity... The Humanity... I owned a 4 percent interest in that company!"

1941- Pearl Harbor is bombed. A stunning blow to tourism. Millions of dollars lost.
Planes devastate the docks as the men in the planes say "Do not worry. You have a lovely island!" Another pilot agrees, "It looks like a great place to play golf!"

1982- Tylenol laced with Cyanide. Causes Great Suffering to parent company Johnson & Johnson. Millions of dollars lost.
Man sits in front of a computer, "Seems silly- as now you can buy Tylenol Cyanide online. 'Without a prescription!' I get hundreds of offers via e-mail per day!"

2001- World Trade Center destroyed. Billions of dollars lost.
Man at desk in insurance office. "Now we raise rates across the board. Car, Home, Life, Medical. They have to buy car insurance in most states, it's a captive market! Now on Health insurance, if they get something too expensive we cap our pay-out and run."
