Dance of the authoritarian

09/05/06 | by David Raffin [mail] | Categories: News/Info

1. WA state decides they will charge "booking fees" to those who are arrested. This is done by what the courts call an "involuntary" method. The people are arrested, taken to jail, and any money they have is simply stolen from their confiscated wallets or purses. Before the pretense of a trial. To people who are "held and released" and never charged with any crime.

2. After years of such thefts, the federal courts rule the practice illegal. Unconstitutional. A violation of due process.

3. Thurston county courts make a public statement they will keep charging the "fees" because the federal court was "unclear."

It's clear this is all about government theft. They arrest people and steal their money. Even if they are never charged with anything.

To paraphrase my friend David McReynolds, That isn't an aberration of the system- that is the system.

Vision? Nary!
"Not since radical physicist Benny Hill first postulated that time slowed down while being chased by bikini-clad women; however, from the vantage point of the viewer, time sped up, have the masses been witness to such a momentous spectacle."
