The world is safe from Neanderthal clones. Or is it?
In February 2009, the research team, led by geneticist Svante Pääbo, announced that they had completed the first draft of the Neanderthal genome, which covers about 63% of the entire base pairs. New results indicated that adult Neanderthals were lactose intolerant.[7] As for the possibility of cloning a Neanderthal, Pääbo commented, “Starting from the DNA extracted from a fossil, it is and will remain impossible.”

A shame. This robs the Neanderthals of their chance for vengeance against Homo sapiens. On an up note, it robs Homo sapiens of their plans to keep Neanderthals as house pets and/or indentured servants.
All in all, a draw; to no one’s full satisfaction.
