Sometimes stereotypes are true. Many people on the left have no sense of humor.*

Over at the legal site TalkLeft people with ideologically tight underpants are going nuts over a comment posted to another site over a fart story.

While the body odor of foreigners is a problem, we have to remember that many foreign countries lack indoor plumbing. France is a good example.

I know the readers of this site get the joke. Only on idiot could not see that this is a minor absurdist masterpiece. Of course the joke isn’t on France or the event in question at all. It’s a joke on U.S. attitudes and ignorance of the larger world. And it’s funny.
And even if the joke is inadvertent (it wasn’t), if the speaker means it in all earnestness, it’s still funny.
Because then the joke is on the speaker, who is the joke incarnate; punch-line made flesh.
Just like the knee jerk responders.

(* People on the right have no sense of humor either. This is just one of the things they have in common. Don’t get me started on the people in the middle of the road. If they weren’t so non-decisive and opinionless they’d get hit by fewer cars. And we’d have fewer roadside graves- the bottom would fall out of the flower and small cross industry.
Though I like all those roadside memorials. To me they mean one thing- free flowers. And crosses. You never know when you’ll need to crucify something small.)
