There is nothing funny about cancer, except those things about cancer that happen to be funny.

Portland, OR, striptease joint capital of the world, now has the worlds first all-vegan non-smoking strip club: Casa Diablo.
It’s in the industrial section surrounded by train tracks and warehouses. I’ve not been there but I know the area from when I lived in Portland. Once I ended up at an all night party nearby after dropping off print issues of Vision? Nary! when a companion and I blundered onto a band playing in the parking lot of a dive some people had just bought.
Now, if you are interested in the non-smoking vegan strip action, better hurry. The place is for sale.
From the Dana Gould site, this set from 2000 ends with the classic Island of Misfit Toys bit.
I saw Dana Gould recently in Seattle. After not performing much outside CA for many years he is appearing more throughout the US. See his site for itinerary.
A Bad Day a short film by Elijah Brubaker
Pain has kept me from the computer the past few weeks. As it gets better there will be a new Rhyme or Treason podcast- I was working toward one when it hit.
So, for now, enjoy this Fred Allen Show with Orson Wells. In it you can hear how Orson used to sing duets with himself. –The Show is here–
And I will go back to not really being at the computer for a few more days at least.
Report on the Barnhouse Effect
Vonnegut’s short story as broadcast on the 50’s radio show Dimension X.
The story is set “some ten years in the future.” So, 1960 something.
The Rhyme or Treason podcast is ready for downloading.
Half an hour of Treason, yes indeed, for your listening pleasure.

“I’ve been happy before and it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.
If I’m happy that usually means I’ve forgotten something really important.
You see a guy on the street laughing by himself, you think, ‘What’s wrong with him?’
As I see it we enter this world naked bloody and screaming. And it doesn’t have to end there if you know how to live right.”
- Dana Gould
One of my favorite Dana Gould bits is the one mocking the formation of the Klan.
His site contains many audio and video files.
The Klan bit is contained in the Largo 2001 file- and the sound is from the board, thus is excellent.
Largo - May 13th, 2001
29 Minutes 23 Seconds
Soundboard SourceThis half-hour has many routines being performed for the first time, including a drunken mother snapshot, finding homes for lost dogs and an interesting take on the Klan.
In the early 1960s, James P. Coyle and Mal Sharpe roamed the streets of San Francisco, microphone in hand, roping strangers into bizarre schemes and surreal stunts.
